It has been floating around Europe for 10 years and is now available in the U.S. The name of the product may need to be revised and probably will not change. If this is geared towards "Women of Color," it would and could mean all ethnicities (African America, African, Dominican, Puerto Rican, Brazilian, etc.). The founder of the brand, Lionel Durand, feels the name is not an issue. Although, he did face some obstacles with UK retailers. Lionel claims the name is based on the makeup, not skin color. Hmmmmmm....what do you think?

The heat is on, it is hot and unforgiving. The sun is not a respector of persons and does not seek to harm a select audience. So, basically, you need to protect yourself from head to toe. Be advised that it is best to use SPF 30. Yet, adding SPF 15 to SPF 30 will not give you SPF 45. Ugh! In any case, start today and keep it going!

There are so many different concealers to choose from and the key is....please find one that works for you. Concealer can work wonders for your appearance. It is as simple as having a sleep deprived night and looking like it...or looking as if you slept, for more than 8 hours. Some are creamy, others are matte, some are in a tube, others in a pot, some work amazing with the heat from your fingers and others demand the stroke of a brush. All in all, concealer works wonders. It will camouflage dark-undereye circles, blemishes, redness, etc. Plus, it has the power to brighten your complexion.

First of all, when I look at this model...I just want to say, "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha." She is beyond perfection! Wow, as an artist...I am impressed. Now, back to business. Bobbi Brown will be launching the Nudes Collection for Fall 2009. You can always count on Bobbi to bring you a natural look. She keeps it simple and it always works.

My suggestion, based on what I see: Black Gel liner is used on the upper lid. A brown eyeshadow or brow gel can be used on the brows. Apply bone eyeshadow all over the lid. You can lightly apply a salmon or pale pink color to the lips. A coral blush would work fine for this look. A cream or liquid foundation and a lot of powder. Do not forget your mascara or pop on false lashes. This look can work on anyone; however, application is key. Have fun!

Fall 2009 brings us a spectrum of fabulous colors to include the following families: Plum, Berry, Mango, Espresso, Navy, etc. Dior and Guerlain are cheering for the smoky eye, whether dramatic or not. The plum liner on the Guerlain model's lower lid is exquisite, with the cheek and lip combinations. Nice, subtle smokey eye.

The Dior model, below, is highly dramatic. This look is not appropriate for the office. This is definitely for an evening out, photo-shoot, playtime, special occasion, etc. I believe you get the hint. Honestly, I believe the lip color is a shade too dark. What do you think? The dress/halter top is nice.

Summertime...and the Living is Easy

The heat is on and your makeup needs staying power. Several companies offer the gel or paint options, for the eyes. Once the product dries on the skin, it will not move. I am a huge fan of the gel or paint families. Think outside the box with these products. There are so many ways to use them on the eyes (liner, base, etc.). Who really started this phenomenon? I believe either M.A.C. or Bobbi Brown and the other companies followed the trend. The color options below are by Shu Uemura.

The model below is wearing Bobbi Brown, promoting the bronzer collection. Bobbi has actually created a Shimmer Brick for the body. In my opinion, this model looks airbrushed. What do you think? Hmmmm. Bobbi Brown was on QVC, Sunday afternoon and I was impressed. I was in awe at the amount of products she had sold. Are we really in a recession?

I walked into the MAC Pro Store and anyone who knows me...knows that I love animal print(s). I almost had an anxiety attack, when I noticed the leopard print packaging. OMG! Love It! The store was so busy and I was not that pressed to purchase goods. So, I decided to make a call to one of my connections. The colors are more on the earthy side: gold, emerald, charcoal, espresso, chocolate, caramel, brick, etc. The looks that you can create are endless. Have fun and live on the wild side.

TIME 4 Lashes: Faux Real!

I was perusing through the May 4th edition of TIME magazine (President Obama- 100 Days on the cover).....lo and behold, a pair of false lashes were pictured in the middle of the page. An article, on faux lashes, in TIME. Wow! Basically, the article mentioned the craze of false lashes and how long they have been in existence. There are so many fabulous options; however, the focus was on a particular company. Personally, I am not a huge fan of this brand (you should read the article). As it pertains to the everyday look, I find the criss-cross lash to be so unrealistic. Honestly....I have not seen "real" lashes on a human that grow in a criss- cross fashion. In addition, for $20.00 or more, these lashes should look natural. Yes, they offer several designs....which are beautiful (feathers, fur, glitter, gold, crystals, flares, etc.). However, for the most part, the cross design pops up....often. Plus, the band of this brand is not as flexible. Based upon my sampling of many products. In any case, it was good to see a feature article on false lashes in such a prestigious magazine. They are phenomenal and so faux real!

Witnessed It!

I was there!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!! I witnessed the Inauguration of the 1st African-American President of the United States. I must admit that words cannot express my experiences of this historic day. In spite of the following:

1) Full to capacity Metro parking lots.
2) A pedestrian being struck by a train.
3) Massive lines.
4) Record-breaking crowds.
5) Cement barriers blocking entrances and exits to the Mall.
6) Brutally, cold weather.
7) Disgusting restroom facilities.
8) No liquids.
9) Uncomfortable clothing (5-6 layers).
10) No consistent cellular phone access.

It was worth it!!!! Congratulations, Mr. President Barack Obama! There will be more pictures added, later.

History was made on November 4, 2008. The first African-American was elected President of the United States. It is just amazing to be alive and present, witnessing such an extraordinary time of events.

I will never forget November 5, 2008. The energy was electrifying and the nation was embracing possibilities and opportunities. Not to mention, walking to the White House, immediately after Obama was named President Elect. Wow! These are moments that will never be forgotten. As a New Yorker, being in D.C., the night Barack Obama became President.....was truly an experience of a lifetime.

In honor of a man with respect for himself, respect for his wife, respect for his children, intellect, edge, style, grace, charisma, honor, confidence, character, charm, passion, divine focus and courage..... I will ROCK IT!

The look above is so beautiful and natural. The foundation and concealer application(s) are a perfect match. The eyebrows have been defined and the eyeliner compliments her blue eyes. Great look for everyday, the office or just because.... I love this look! She looks great and just enough highlights were applied, to give her an outstanding glow. She looks timeless and borderline...DRAMATIC! Well, of course, a darker shadow would need to be applied and then....WOW! Drama!

The look above is so much fun. Oh my goodness! I love the eyeshadow. I believe that we should not be afraid of color. Unlike a bad haircut, makeup can be removed in seconds. Have fun!

It is official...I am fabulous! My birthday was July 14th and I am officially the fabulous one! Too excited! In order to celebrate my birthday, in style, I had to change my style. So, I went to the best for the best style. Thank you, D! You see, even the Fashion Stylist must have a makeover. I am fierce! I am fabulous! I experienced a catharsis, as I watched chunks of hair falling to the floor. I was too excited to let it go! Unlike the haircuts of the past, this one was quite liberating. I finally realized that I am not my hair. I am me, the fabulous one (am I making you ill, yet?). It was time to leave the chignon, behind and move on to fabulosity! Now, I flaunt it!

Yes, I know...I am fabulous. Thank you. Please do not take me serious. A little entertainment is necessary, at times. I mean look at the economy. The housing market and the gas prices are ridiculous. People are losing jobs, daily and businesses we believed in are becoming obsolete. In times like these (makes me want to sing a hymn), we need to reassure ourselves. We need to be confident in our skin. Yes, I did get off the beaten path... In any case, I feel great! I love my haircut! I have been told that years have been erased. Well, my goodness, how old did I really look? Thanks for letting me know, people.

The diva is back. I have been modest and nice for far too long and unfortunately, stabbed in the back. So, since I have reached "fabulosity" status...I will not hold back. It is time to make it happen. It is time to help other individuals, flaunt it! It is time to broaden horizons and embrace change. It is time! So, flaunt it! Stand tall, strike a pose and strut with strength that cannot be shaken or moved. Let the world know that you, too....are fabulous! Flaunt it!

Take care of it! I love to observe people and I came across this woman with a mustache. Wow! She appeared to be in her late forties, early fifties. So, it made me think.... have you been grooming a mustache for at least 30 years? Why? Ok. Perhaps, it is a cultural thing or it could serve a strategic purpose in her life. I know that she would look so amazing without a mustache. Do you have a mustache? How long have you had the mustache? Why are you walking around with a mustache? Wax it!

OMG! He is amazing! Granted...I do miss Kevyn Aucoin and thank goodness we have samples of his work. RIP, Kevyn. Well, Sam Fine is just FABULOUS! It is just unbelievable to watch him in action. I have been a fan of Sam Fine for years and his work is consistent. I just love his personal style. The way that he dresses is simply divine. He is FINE! It is an honor to be in his presence. I have learned soooo much from Kevyn and Sam.

He always looks flawless and his models do, too.

Who did not love Ambush Makeover? Fearless, Fierce and Fabulous! At times, an ambush is the only way to get a person to enhance their image.

"Angelic" was the word I heard, when describing this bridal pic. The bride wanted to look simple, yet beautiful and elegant. She wanted a natural look for her big day. She just looks...... angelic. I love it when female athletes take stunning, down the court.

Oh my goodness! They looked amazing together and what a beautiful ceremony. The bride was just breath-taking. I created a look especially tailored for her and she was stunning! I love Bridal Makeup applications. I kept telling her, "You look HOT!" ***The picture has been removed***

This may be the end of the "it" series; however, creativity is really the key with this word. "It" is everything. These ladies are beautiful! I had so much fun shopping for the mango "couture" gown. When I saw the color, style and texture... I knew that it would be amazing. I was right. You can never go wrong with orange sherbert and caramel. Fabulous! The Bride was flawless. She captivated her groom and the attendees. I wanted to create a personalized look for her, as I customized the smokey eye to her structure and the lashes.....Spectacular!!! The chocolate mousse with whip cream, strapless number looked great and I made sure the makeup complimented the image. I just love the way makeup, clothing and accessories can enhance an individual. I wanted to create a timeless look for each woman. This picture will be viewed in ten years and it will appear to have been taken, yesterday. The transformation process is simply powerful and at times, unbelievable and.... I love it! ***The picture has been removed***

Image is everything! We've heard it so many times; however, who cares? Well, from the looks of it.... not too many people. If I see another fashion disaster, I will have to give the Fashion Police a break and just send them straight to....... I am just curious to know how you would fill in the blank. Oh my goodness!!!! It amazes me that people can invest so much time and energy on their cars and homes. Yet, they are clueless about their image. Ooops! I forgot, the cars and homes are connected to the overall image. Give me a break! You will drive a luxury car or SUV and shop at a convenience store for your clothes. You will invest so much time and energy into career advancement; however, the attire is tired! I feel that once you pass the college days, you should take it up a level. You need to become more aware of your surroundings and your image. I guess that is why my career is so important. As an Image Consultant, Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist...... I HELP!!! The main question is, who will help me? There are days that I know the Fashion Police are ready for me. There are days, when I just cannot figure it out and I need my own Image Consultant. So, who will help me? Oh! I am trained to help myself and I am good at it!

What is the mystery behind the smokey eye? Well, it depends on who you ask and since I am writing this.... my opinion matters! The smokey eye is designed to be mysterious. Only the bold, dramatic, daring, risk takers can pull it off with confidence and style. There are so many variations of the smokey eye. The typical base would have to be the obvious, anything with a "smoke" tint (black, charcoal, grey, gunmetal, etc.). Why not take it up a level and use purple or navy? Girl, let's not talk about using green or brown. There are so many ways to live mysterious. How long are you willing to stay in the dark?
